Lost is something of a franchise eccentric these days. Many fans could not be Arsed following each thread of a single plot and extract the info, teasing fed the complex plot and as such simply abandoned the show. Others appreciate the twists and suspense, picking holes in every scrap of dialogue, while trying to decipher what they see on the screen, hoping to clarify many mysteries of the island .
This title is the ultimate in fan service, so if you're not too focused on the spectacle that you will steer clear, because you need a fair bit of knowledge of the series to assess fully what Ubisoft have done with this game.
There is no clear phase as such, however, each 'level' is divided into an episode of the series, complete with the 'previously on Lost "voice over and the title sequence. It actually works very well and the game is broken into small pieces.
The story opens with the Oceanic Flight 815 divisions and crash landing on the island now infamous. You play as a photojournalist with a nasty case of amnesia after taking a knock to the head. Your first mission is to find the location of the accident, navigating your way through the jungle of winding. Graphically this is not bad at all, as a balance of dense vegetation in the wind like an original musical score gives the whole a more authentic feel than most TV tie-ins.
Once you're on the beach, you meet all the main characters of the show, some of which are expressed by the original actors and others use her lookalikes.Most of them are great, but some are questionable to say the least. They all look like their counterparts in real life too, except that Desmond, who, while voice actor real, for some reason, like a burn victim.
The crash site is quite true to the show as Charlie wanders into a drug-fueled Daze, Jack performs CPR on the injured and Locke "finds his feet." Your first task is to stop a fuel leak from the fuselage of the aircraft by the reconnection of circuits through the sometimes taxing, mini-game for the moment pretty basic.Other missions see you explore the jungle, the smoke escaping from the threatening beast (which is actually quite scary in the game) and taking on the "mysterious other....
